How much longer?

Postby Duartexas » Mon Jan 11, 2010 8:59 pm

So here is the point of the sittuation...

Have resigned from the LDS church on January 2009. Former Bishop send a letter dated 29th January confirming that resignation letter was received and forwarded with all needed papaerwork for membership resignation to the Stake Presidency.

We are now in January 2010 and yet no official confirmation from the Church Membership Records confiming that my name has been removed from churhc records. Simply a total intentional delay.

Have called Membership Records in Utah, and all they do is passing my call around by pressing numbers to get a choice and eventually after being transfered 20 times a lady asks me to call in one hour

My wife said something intersting thought she said "don't waste your time calling them to get a letter from them because even if they send you one saying your name has been removed, your name always will be there".

Perhaps in 70 years time they will still have the guts to perform a proxy batism for me in the Temple. Oh my.....

Okay let me update this...

So I called again and this time I talked to someone apparently the right department finnaly. I told him that haven't got anythign yet, so he asked for my surname which I gave.

Then asked for my fist name, and then middle name. Then asked my my bith date and finnally he said "do you live at...." in which I said yes that's me.
So he said that a letter was already sent to me on April 2009. But obviously I got no letter at all. I have received much mail from the church for the past years even letters from the first presidency office and none of them ever came as registered only via normal mail but all arrived just fine everytime, but this particulary one needed to "got lost". What are the odds of that? Exactly... but I give the benefit of doubt, so he said they will send me another one, but he also added that after sending this one "tomorrow" it's up to the postal services what happens next. (is he trying to tell me something?) Surely something important as this and specailly if has been lost once, should be send via registered mail to make sure the former member receives it. Can't they afford a simple deliverd letter from all the tithings I have paid before? Honestly I even wouldn't mind to pay for it just to get that letter

Anyway I will wait for it, so apprently the process got there but obviously I'm looking forward to read what the letter says. One thing my wife was right thouhg.... they always will have my info in there, as you can see he asked me all my details and voila, we know who you are and where you live :D I would be more happy if they couldn't find me at all

:D Hi Duartexas,

If God is trying to tell you something then it has to be...
What would having the piece of paper actually mean or do for you?

I would be more inclined to write and say that you want all information or data regarding yourself removed from the file.
That way when you next telephone and they say " Who are you" they can confirm they by not knowing you that they have removed you.

However till such times the only document that requires your name written in it, is the book of the living.
As it is in heaven, only God can add or take away. So I would not worry too much about earthly documents.
They are not worth the value of the paper of ink it was written with.

I start to think that my postman may be mormon

I'm not too worried about the paper or letter itself, it's just nice to know that if resignation has been asked then a request should be respected and the recipient be notified. But above all honesty. Did they really send me a letter on April 2009? I doubt it, as the post services between US and UK are so smooth and I never had any mail lost from the US. So or it's a very unfortunate coincidence, or then they are lying. If the latest why? To buy time and try to see if I changed my mind or to push as far as possible so I make number for the next general conference audit? Or worse, maybe they don't think I'm worth an $1 stamp? Here is the true church for you........

Seriously now...
They may have written it but whose to say they posted it?

Why not pay £5.00 for a solicitors letter to be sent. Should do the trick.

I think the a solicitor wouldn't bother with a mormon affair for £5, and honestly I wouldn't don't blame him, he probably would pay me £5 just to keep him away of it

Quiet? I called it dead  It was more fun and exciting here when I was a mormon  We gotta do something to ignate the discussions in here. Is any mormon out there who would like to share the LDS truth with the forum? I'm all ears and I mean it LDS truth not LDS lies

The reason they drag their feet over these things is because of their dishonest auditing practices. On average, only about 1/3 of Mormons around the world have any meaningful involvement in the church, i.e. are "active". Just as they publish as "members" all those whose name is on the books so they try and retain inactive members to make the numbers look good.

The Mormon section is quiet because Mormons are frustrated with hearing the truth and not having an answer.

1 Don't seek info from his enemies. Learn about his faith from him.
2 Compare your best with his best -- not your best with his worst.
3 Leave room for "holy envy": seeing something in his faith that you'd like to make yours.

Hi guys...just thought I'd swing by and catch up.

Spoke with my LDS brother recently, who doesn't mind the difficulties in local congregations, but he enjoys the lifestyle. Guess we all put up with stuff that goes on around us because we enjoy friendships, camaraderie, social get-togethers, but we had a decent chat about Joseph Smith and his gammy leg which made him think a bit. Still wouldn't affect his lifestyle though...

Tex, HSR, how ya doin' buddies ?

Seems to be a meeting thread for people from the past...
I have forgotten whence I came,
Or what my home might be,
Or by what strange and savage name
I called that thundering sea.

I note your presence here Edgar. Which version of Mormonism from the past do you subscribe to these days?

HI all :

Hi Duartexas, why did you leave the Mormon Church and what are you doing now, faith-wise?

There's many reasons why I left the mormon church where you want me to start?

Faith-wise I'm into Orthodoxy I mean the Orthodox church and find it extremely fascinating both the services and its history as one if not the most ancient Christian church.
