what is this?

Some of you reading this will not have heard anything and probably there is no point in you reading on. Some others will have listened to one side of the story and assumed I have 'sold out' but please check this website and see that not one artilce has been chnaged; and still others may be wondering what the fuss is all about. In the end I am not concerned about my name, although I cannot deny some of the things I have read and heard have hurt, but I am concerned that Reachout Trust seems to have been dragged into the ring.

I am saddened that it appears some people have listened to the 'gossip' going on around the blogs and websites and yet have not asked me or Revelation TV for a comment. Those that have contacted us have often realised what happened and do not think this is an attempt to silence anyone.

Some have assumed that I should not be involved in Revelation TV - strange that so many true Christians are - and that the word of Christ is getting out into thousands of homes. Yes I have prayed about it and I have no doubt that I am in the right place at this time. As I explain below I have no problem being involved with Revelation TV and Reachout Trust. In both I have found true brothers and sisters who want to reach out and serve the Lord and who accept me as I am, with my failings, and want the best for me, and especially the best for the Lord.

If you are willing to listen to my side I will summarise it below and you can also see the official response, which unfortunately none of the critics appear to have mentioned, on the Revelation website - http://www.revelationtv.com/news.php?newsid=43b4f66c-6c38-102d-bde7-00219bfb

1. There are different beliefs within the staff of Revelation TV on the WFM but this was not the issue in point. JP was invited and asked to appear and his subject was the WFM – if we had wanted to stop him we would not have invited him in the first place.

2. Whereas some of the people mentioned by JP appear, or have appeared, on Revelation TV, money is certainly not the motivation for not naming names.

3. The whole problem is the naming of names. Of course people have the right to name names but I would suggest that sometimes we need to be a little more gracious at how we do it and indeed ensure we are not exaggerating or making sweeping statements that we could never back up if challenged (I guess the Lord has been teaching me along these lines as a result of this). However, the regulations governing TV are very clear – you cannot accuse someone of serious issues without them being present to defend themselves. When this happened on the TV Broadcast, I made a mistake which I will always regret, I should have said straight away that we are not allowed to name names but we can continue to talk about the WFM in general terms. Indeed I tried to steer the conversation around to more general issues. When this failed I decided that in order to be fair I would read an email criticising what was being said by JP. Unfortunately the email mentioned the name of a leading member of the WFM in a positive light, which brought more direct criticism and the sweeping statement that NO ONE has ever been healed at this man's meeting. At this point I had to move on to other aspects as we could not, for regulations sake, continue on that line.

4. On the night we received many emails, which I had to stop reading because of the above incident, and they were about 50-50 split on whether what was being said was right or not.

5. Our accusers have in fact broken what I believe is a clear Biblical principal in that they have filled the Blogs with information just from one side without anyone asking my view on the events.

6. This is a very sad incident and I think the email I sent out the next morning, approved by the management, sums it up:

“As the emails and texts that came in last night show, viewers are divided fairly evenly over their opinions on those involved with the Word of Faith Movement. We believe this does indicate that being a responsible TV Station with viewers from many different opinions we do need to allow opportunity for both sides of a doctrinal position to be heard.

However, we do agree with you that the way the issue was dealt with last night was not correct and for that we apologise. I was increasingly uncomfortable, not of the critique of the belief, but of the continual mention of specific names, as you say in a, ‘name and shame’ fashion. The management too were uncomfortable and when this was communicated in my earpiece you may have noticed that the interview took a different direction.

We would again apologise, not for critiquing a belief but for naming people who had no opportunity to defend themselves and should add that we are taking steps to ensure that such presentations do not happen in the future.

We will also consider the possibility that in the future we return to the subject up in debate with an audience so that both points of view can be expressed clearly.”

I trust this explains to any supporters of either Reachout Trust or Revelation TV where I am in this matter and gives you a better insight from my side as to what happened.
