What
is Always Being Ready?
A campaign to emphasise the need for individuals and churches to be
able to reach out to all people, especially those deceived by and trapped
in the cults. It provides teaching and guidance, based on good biblical
practice; having a Christ-like attitude; and sharing Jesus with people
we meet, so that they are challenged with the truth and made to feel
loved and cared for.
The Campaign Comprises:
Finding a role: The campaign is designed to show that every Christian
can witness to the cults if they are growing in Christ and if they have
the correct materials. This possibility is enhanced if they are encouraged
by their church.
Good Practice: The campaign addresses issues of attitude and
practice, that is, how to have a Christ-like attitude in your witnessing
and a sound biblical approach in your conversations
Being Ready: The campaign also shows how to finally overcome
fears and doubts and always be ready to witness with confidence, from
identifying witnessing opportunities in your area to preparing your
church to have an open-door policy to those in the cults, and making
the truth accessible and the Lord visible to a deceived people.
How Does it Work?
Your church will initially be visited by a Reachout representative to
take an evening session that will present the Always Being Ready
programme and show how your church can be involved.
The church then commits to hold three separate days of training over
a maximum period of 18 months. These start off at the basic
level and move through to the advanced (see 'Programme' for further details)
and are designed to equip members of the church as explained above.
The church will then seek to live out in a practical way the lessons
learned in the Always Being Ready campaign and especially
plan to share the Good News with everyone in their area.
All participating churches identify a named individual who will be part
of the Reachout Team and will be encouraged and able to draw on the
resources of Reachout. On their part the individual undertakes to keep
the church informed about local cult issues and Reachout initiatives;
they will also encourage the church to follow through in its commitment
to love the Witness at the door, the Mormon in the workplace, and indeed
all the cult members who needs Jesus.
